A new study shows that elephants live longer in the wild than in captivity. No big surprise if you've ever seen elephants at the zoo. Of all the animals there, elephants seem the saddest and most frustrated with their confined and bare living space. Though many zoos rescue animals that would otherwise not make it in the wild, it is still sad to see elephants in cages and cage-like enclosures, because they are very large and very intelligent animals. They probably need more space and more intellectual-stimulation than most to stay happy. But I am no expert on animal psychology...
