Books, movies, and T.V. shows are such a large component of the lives of many people today.  What did people do before all of these existed?  I wonder if they told each other stories, remembered those stories well enough to tell them to others, and then each had stories they liked so much, that they discussed the merits of them with others.  I wonder if they had more free time, and time to think and be creative, and make up explanations about the night sky and the natural world around them.  I wonder if they were half-facetiously made up things that seemed like they could be somewhat plausible, and that became religion.
