Neighborhood watches and park closures are awful. They condone targeting people based on their ethnicity, age, or clothing. They illegalize actions like sitting, standing, walking, and sleeping. They promote fear, paranoia, and irrational suspicion and hatred. I can't stand a thing about them...
Today, I saw a sign that said Neighborhood Watch and picked up a rock and threw it at it. I'm not sure what I was trying to accomplish... the stone wouldn't have done anything (especially, thanks to my horrible aim - I missed the sign completely). But all I could think when I threw it was, that's for Trayvon Martin. RIP.
