Avoiding being an over-friendly neighbor

We are in the same apartment complex, but a different unit. In fact, the apartment is exactly a mirror copy of our old one - everything is switched right to left.  I almost walked into my neighbors house three times, because of the switch.  I hope I don't accidentally do it - that would be a bad way to get to know the neighbors!
